The Dax symbiont is one of the younger beings to appear on this list, though still boasts a healthy age overall. Dax was born in 2018, so at the time of writing, they're only six years old. Maybe the wrong brief was sent to our writers!

By the time Ezri Tigan received the symbiont, Dax was 357 years old. While that's barely middle-aged in Trill terms, this still included several lifetimes of hosts, even if some of those lifetimes were less than full.

For example, while Curzon was close to his one-hundredth birthday when he died, Torias was killed in a shuttle accident, barely a year after being joined. This led to the series of events that saw Joran both receive, then lose, the symbiont that same year. Joran would become a dark secret of Dax's past for almost a century.

The nature of the hosts' lives often saw short joining periods. Jadzia was also killed, though she was murdered by Gul Dukat. Dax's lives were filled with both beauty and trauma, something that left a heavy mark on those that would inherit all of the memories of everyone who had come before.
