10 "No Body, No Death" Cases In Star Trek

8. Tasha Yar

Ok, now hear me out.

Tasha Yar was sent back in time, aboard the Enterprise-C, by an alternate version of Captain Picard. This started a chain of events that brought the half-Romulan Commander Sela into existence (more on this later).

Sela tells Picard that Tasha is her mother, but that she had been executed on Romulus some twenty years before. It's a sad story and one that also took some of the pressure from Denise Crosby having to play two roles, but that's all it is - a story.

There's no way of verifying this account. The mere existence of Sela suggests that yes, Yar was brought to Romulus and that yes, she did indeed have a child with a Romulan. That's all it confirms, as there's no way to know if Yar was killed while attempting to escape. Who is to say that she didn't find herself joining the dissident movement, even going so far as to work with a certain Vulcan diplomat as the years went on?

If that version of her life is the truth, then one thing is for sure - we hope she got the hell off of Romulus before that supernova came along to ruin everyone's day.
