Star Trek: 10 Alien Encounters Before First Contact

8. The Briori - The 37s

The Briori have never appeared on-screen in Star Trek, but their presence has been felt in real-world history for decades. It was they who kidnapped one of the world's most famous aeronauts, Amelia Earhart, while she was attempting her solo flight across the Atlantic.

These aliens had little interest in fostering good relations with humanity. When they arrived on Earth in 1937, they kidnapped Earhart, along with three hundred other humans, transporting them to the Delta Quadrant to be used as slave labour.

Perhaps they should have done a little more research, as these particular humans had no intention of allowing the Briori to dominate them as their masters. Instead, the humans banded together and rose against them, overthrowing the Briori, while taking their weapons and technology.

By the time the crew of USS Voyager arrived on this planet, the humans had established a colony, and truly called this new world home. Even when offered the chance to join Voyager on its journey, they elected, with the newly defrosted Earhart, to remain and tend to the home that they'd built.
