Star Trek: 10 Secrets About The USS Enterprise-F You Need To Know
7. Feeling Shonn'ed
Having appeared as a non-speaking character in Lower Decks, Elizabeth Shelby returned to Star Trek after a live-action absence of 33 years to see the Enterprise-F off on its final flight. Fans will recognise her immediately as the no-nonsense promotion hungry Borg expert from The Best of Both Worlds two-parter. It took a while but she finally got to call the shots on an Enterprise!
The Picard Logs suggested that the ship has been captained by several individuals during its lifetime with none named onscreen. In Star Trek Online however, the F is commanded by the Andorian Va'Kel Shon, making him the third non-human to command an Enterprise after Spock in The Wrath of Khan and Worf (if we are to go by the suggestion hinted at in Võx).
In the alternative timeline explored by Peter David's Imzadi novel from 1992, the Enterprise-F was in service around 2408 and at that time commanded by one Captain Data. The later DS9 book series Millennium would also include reference to the NCC-1701-F which was a beefed-up Defiant type vessel built after the destruction of the Enterprise-E. It was in turn commanded by Jean-Luc Picard and then William Riker before its own demise.
