Star Trek: 10 Times Opening Credits Spoiled The Surprise

7. LeVar Burton - Timeless

Star Trek Geordi Voyager

For the 100th episode of Star Trek: Voyager, the writers decided to add a couple of celebrations to the mix. The first was to bring fan favourite character Geordi LaForge over to the show, with LeVar Burton pulling double duties as actor and director. The other celebration was destroying the ship, but to be fair, that happened every other Thursday, so it wasn't quite as special.

LeVar Burton had, at that point, never appeared in Star Trek outside of his series, and the films. Here, he captained the USS Challenger, pursuing a renegade Chakotay and Harry Kim, donning the grey First Contact uniforms with the gorgeous All Good Things combadge. Though this Geordi from a different time, LeVar played him as our La Forge, and we loved him for it.

With his name in the opening credits, this was a definite case of excitement building and paying off nicely. His scenes may be few, but they're well written and, naturally, well directed. Perhaps this entry comes across as a love letter to LeVar Burton. To that, this writer replies - yeah, what of it?
