6. St. Elsewhere

The Tv show that helped launch the career of Denzel Washington (pictured above), St.Elsewhere was a much loved episodic drama. Of the countless medical dramas that have made their way to the silver screen over the years, St. Elsewhere has to be one of the weirdest. It was inherently a black comedy that relied on more gritty themes to provide a look at what it's like to work at a hospital. It wasn't a hit with the ratings, but its loyal fanbase kept the show running for 6 seasons, and the show is perceived by many to be one of the best dramas of its time. This is because the premise was sharply different from other hospital shows in that it is an urban institution that gets the patients who are turned away from the more prestigious facilities. WHY WE WANT IT BACK It would be amazing to catch up on the hospital decades later, featuring both a young and old cast. With more shows being marketed as realistic and darker, St. Elsewhere would likely capture a bigger audience this time around. After all, if high-concept shows like Fringe and Community can find an audience, there's plenty of hope for St. Elsewhere. Also, many are still wondering if the Tommy Westphall Universe is a valid theory, and it is about time a definitive answer be provided...
