10 Actors Who Left Hit TV Shows And Then Came Back

In the heat of the sexy vampire craze of the late 2000's, The Vampire Diaries was launched to huge success. The crux of the show was essentially a love triangle between Nina Dobrev's Elena Gilbert and two feuding vampire brothers.

As the seasons dragged on, the narrative of the series grew increasingly ridiculous, giving Dobrev the chance to actually play multiple evil versions of herself as well. But alas, after six full seasons, Dobrev left the series as her character, Elena, essentially went into a magical coma. At the time she claimed it was simply because her contract was up, but has since been a bit more open, citing her desire to avoid typecasting and to seek out other roles.

The show carried on for two more seasons following her departure before calling it quits. The final episode saw Dobrev's character rising from her magical coma (it's much more complicated than that, but it's REALLY not worth diving into the details here) and getting to live out a happily ever after with one of her sexy vampires.

All's well that ends well.
