7. Bitsie Tulloch - Superman & Lois (The CW)
As the title suggest, Superman & Lois isn't just a show about the Man Of Steel. Working on a decent budget to pull off the necessary effects-heavy action without coming off a distant second to the movies, the show anchors its comic book sensibilities by centring the narrative in Clark Kent's home town of Smallville and positioning itself as a family drama - albeit one with greater stakes.
However, the heart and integrity of the show is the husband and wife partnership between Superman and the world's greatest reporter Lois Lane, a couple for whom heart and integrity is a lifestyle. They're both heroes: yet while Tyler Hoechlin's Clark Kent is a perfect foil, all tender reserve and boy scout optimism, it's Bitsie Tulloch that has the showy part to play here, and she certainly understands the assignment.
By turns vulnerable, angry, passionate and warm as the volatile, ferociously intelligent Lois Lane, Tulloch is astonishing in the role. She's in a different league - and if there were any justice in the world she'd be getting the parts that Jessica Chastain is being offered round about now. Luckily for us, she's not - which means we should get to see her light up the small screen in Smallville for a good few years to come yet. It doesn't hurt that in a certain light she's a dead ringer for original big screen Lois Lane, Margot Kidder, either.
