Modern Family's Eric Stonestreet auditioned for the role as Kevin Malone, the lovable office idiot. However the role ended up going to Brian Baumgartner.
Stonestreet went on to play Cameron Tucker in the other vastly popular sitcom Modern Family in another case of someone losing out on The Office, but going on to give us a perfect character in another show.
His audition actually appears as part of the special features on the Season 9 DVD of The Office.
