10 Amazing TV Shows That Became Unwatchable
4. Scrubs
The hospital setting of Scrubs gave it a unique opportunity, in that it could pair its wacky, goofy moments with some of the most heart-wrenching TV moments ever. Who will ever forget the death of Brendan Fraser's Ben Sullivan?
This was something that the show did to outstanding effect, and though it was certainly past its best years by seasons seven and eight (not including the perfect would-be series finale), it was far from unwatchable. Things may have gone a little too goofy, particularly when it came to J.D. (Zach Braff), but it was about to get so much worse.
The plan was for things to end with season eight, and that's exactly what it should have done. However, even after a poignant and satisfying ending where Dr. Dorian left Sacred Heart to be closer to his young son, Scrubs was brought back for a ninth season in a different hospital, with a new main cast, and almost none of the classic charm.
Dr. Cox and Turk (John C. McGinley and Donald Faison) stuck around, while the majority of the main cast appeared in an episode or two at most, but that wasn't all that was missing. The show simply wasn't that funny anymore, and it had none of the big emotional moments that Scrubs was famous for. Season nine just robbed the initial ending of any real meaning, and hopefully, the new reboot on the horizon will be better.
