10 Anime Series You Only Watch Once

8. Bleach

Bleach was part of the big three shonen anime along with One Piece and Naruto. Unfortunately, it never reached the heights of the other two, despite having so much potential.

A young man must embrace his new role as a soul reaper to defend his town and loved ones from supernatural threats.

There are three hundred and sixty six episodes total, and around one hundred and sixty three episodes are filler, making nearly half the series have nothing to do with the overall plot.

Now, you could skip that, but outside the first three arcs, which are spectacular, the series essentially repeats the same arc multiple times. On top of that, protagonist Ichigo is more bland than uncooked rice and there's a terribly done mid-series twist that makes no sense at all.

While the narrative and character development are poorly executed, the aesthetic, score, and fight scenes are incredible. Bleach is trying to look and act cool, and it knocks it out of the park in that department.

After the first three arcs everything in Bleach goes downhill fast, causing any thoughts of repeat viewings to feel pointless. Though there is promise for the series as the final arc in the manga is getting an adaption in the near future, and since it's already complete, there won't be any of that grating filler that defined the original... hopefully.
