Most people's first exposure to a show is through its title. For example, if you hear something like Attack on Titan, you probably (and quite accurately) imagine an action-heavy battle against giant monsters. Well, when you hear something like Rascal Does Not Dream Of Bunny Girl Senpai, it's safe to say you get a lot of *ahem* fan-service-based ideas in your head. This is a shame because this show is so, so, so much more than that.

The story follows a young man after he encounters a girl dressed as a bunny in the library and realises he's the only one who can see her. He soon learns that she's suffering from "adolescence syndrome", a fictional condition where people's insecurities manifest in strange supernatural ways. From there, he helps her and several others suffering from the same condition.

You'll likely be shocked to learn that the series is surprisingly devoid of overly sexualised characters or fan service. Instead, it's a powerful and emotional exploration of identity, adolescence and growing up.

It's got a slew of fascinating mysteries, a compelling core romance and a focus on complex issues. But you'd be forgiven for not predicting that after seeing the title/presentation. They say sex sells, but it also gives people the wrong ideas about anime.
