5. Battlestar Galactica - Kara Thrace

As much as I loved this show, there were some parts that I was bugged by. The fact they arrived at "our" Earth and abandoned all technology for a simpler lifestyle was stupid, but understandable considering all the crap they went through with the killer robots chasing them. The religious overtones bothered some people, but considering that it had been hinted at the whole series, I was okay with certain aspects of the show being under the control of the deity who was watching over everything, although it could have been explained better. Kara Thrace, though? That was just messed up! In Season 3's "Maelstrom," Kara flies into a storm system chasing a Cylon Raider that only she can see. Refusing to eject, she choose to confront her destiny (watch the episode, it'd take too long to explain) and is presumably killed. That is, until she appears in the middle of a battle between the fleet and Cylons, alive and aware of where Earth is. Weird, right? Well, even weirder considering that when they arrive at Earth (the Earth of the Final Five, not ours), she discovers the Viper she was flying and her own corpse. So...she's dead, but alive. The rest of the series has her questioning her existence, and even after she participates in the final battle and gets everybody to our Earth, she disappears, stating that her job is done, leaving Lee Adama and the audience confused. I consider her dead even though she was "alive" until the end. The problem is that the series never explained what Kara became after she flew into the maelstrom. Was she a Cylon the whole time? Was she an angel meant to lead everybody to their new home? Previous dialogue and analysis suggest the latter, but there's no way to know for sure. I get they wanted to keep some religious mystery to the show, but a little clarification wouldn't have hurt.
