10 Beloved TV Shows SAVED By Fans

When Nashville premiered back in 2012, it was met with near universal acclaim. Mixing the perpetual popularity of country music with high-stakes drama, the show seemed all at once to find and carve its niche - as well as thoroughly hook its fan base.

Despite its critical success, Nashville's ratings saw an inevitable drop after its fourth season. Despite the fact that network ABC had only just announced two new showrunners, they made the decision to cancel the show before its fifth season.

Confident that the show's popularity would see it bounce back, production company Lionsgate TV opted to stick with their original, planned cliffhanger ending to the season instead of the alternate "happily-ever-after" ending intended to give closure to fans.

Lionsgate's faith in the show's fans certainly paid off. After an online petition reached over 171,000 signatures, CMT picked Nashville up and gave it two more seasons (as well as securing a syndication deal with Hulu).

Both the fifth and sixth seasons of the show were mostly well-received, and fans didn't have to settle for the compromise ending the show almost saw.
