10 Best Comic Book TV Shows Never Made
2. Aquaman (2006)
Bruce Wayne isn't the only TV show related to Smallville that was ultimately scrapped before it even began. While the pre-Batman days of Wayne evolved into the pre-Superman days of Clark Kent, 2006 almost saw a spin-off following the pre-Aquaman days of Arthur Curry.
Smallville's version of the character, AC, appeared just a handful of times throughout seasons five to ten of the show, with just his first appearance saving Lois Lane from drowning being enough for a pilot to be ordered for his own spin-off show.
Development went as far as the pilot being written and filmed. After Arthur and his mother's plane came down over the Bermuda Triangle, Atlanna was taken, but AC made the discovery that he could breathe underwater.
The show would have followed the character years later living in Florida, unaware of his true powers and heritage at first, but slowly learning exactly who he was and what he could do. Essentially the exact same approach that Smallville took towards Superman.
Despite it being a spin-off, the casting of the new show deviated from Smallville's Alan Ritchson in favour of Justin Hartley who, after the cancellation of Aquaman became the Green Arrow to Tom Welling's Clark Kent.
