There was no doubt that the show was back on track after this virtual ethics lesson in hilarity. With Michael's gradual transformation from demon to human now the primary focus of the show, the architect's inability to understand basic ethics leads him back to his bad old torturing ways.

When Chidi accidentally insults him, our favourite Demon brings an age old philosophical dilemma to gory life. The dark humour is perfect throughout, the Trolley Problem amongst others brought to life in absurdist brilliance. Each time the blood of the rather lifelike victims impales itself on poor Chidi's face before the experiment reboots once more, is comedy perfection. A subplot involving Tahani and Jason receiving advice from Janet about their budding relationship is also good value without distracting from the central storyline.

But as this show so often does, a message is present that goes past philosophy and addresses the fundamentals of human decency. A scene where Michael transforms from mocking Chidi to a heartfelt apology is truly heart warming stuff. The fact that this scene is brought to life by Danson who repeats the identical speech but with different inflections is acting at its finest.
