While Jason Mendoza was consistently the funniest character of the series, he was rarely given the best dramatic arcs. This is the one episode that delves deeper into how Jason became the rather dimwitted and fallible character that we all love, and it's a treat from start to finish, in tale of breakups, makeups and robberies.

As Jason, Tahani and Michael arrive in Jacksonville, the hilarity begins with the revelation that the infamous 'Donkey Doug' is actually Jason's father. With the realisation that the apple hasn't fallen far from the tree, the gang then sit through the proposal of an insidious business plan that requires the robbing of several stores.

Realising that his father is too far gone to get to the Good Place, Jason then makes the decision to try and save his friend 'Pill Boy' from eternal damnation instead. While still allowing his comedic magic to flow, this episode allows Manny Jacinto to really bring to life the kind hearted soul that Jason is.

There is also a secondary plot involving a simulator machine in which Chidi plays out breaking up with his girlfriend, Simone, with our favourite philosopher's indecisiveness proving his undoing. This scene is almost stolen by Eleanor and her playing out her sexual fantasies inside the simulator while also helping her friend deal with the breakup as best he can.
