I'll probably get shot down here but it needs to be said that the vast majority of Arya Stark's popularity is based on potential. She has a fantastic personality, she's a great individual character, and Maisie Williams has done a great job bringing her to life, but she hasn't really had any sort of effect on Westeros so far. That's all starting to change though. She set about training with the Faceless Men and, while I was a little disappointed with the majority of her storyline in Braavos, she finished the season with a bang, carving up one of the main men who deserved a grisly death, Meryn Trant. It was over-the-top but stunning to watch, and brought Arya's character into relevance. If she grows and returns to Westeros from here, then we can really start to see her justify the wild support for her.
