Game of Thrones is a startling show. It can make your blood run cold just watching some of the horrendous incidents going down, and arguably the most outrageous scene of 2015 was the sacrifice of little Shireen Baratheon. I'm still shocked it actually happened, but the Thrones writers went there. She was a sweet, innocent soul, hindered and judged by her facial scarring despite being supremely intelligent for her age. She committed no crime other than being the daughter of Stannis Baratheon, and the whole situation was made even more grim by the fact that they'd enjoyed a beautiful moment together at Castle Black before he ordered her to be killed to aid his cause. It was uncomfortable to watch, it was frightening, but it was hammer-blow TV.
