2. Parasyte: The Grey

Parasyte: The Grey is a live-action spin-off from acclaimed manga series Parasyte, but don't let that put you off - this is designed to function as a perfectly standalone entity.

Reliably helmed by Train to Busan filmmaker Yeon Sang-ho, this South Korean sci-fi horror series revolves around a group of humans attempting to survive as a fleet of parasitic alien creatures fall out of the sky and land on Earth where they, uh, have a tendency to split human heads apart.

The series skillfully recaptures the bonkers tone and at times downright nauseating style of Hitoshi Iwaaki's source material even while telling its own accessible story, which is packed to the gills with action and revolting body horror above all else.

On top of all this, Parasyte: The Grey is entirely bloat-free, running for just six hour-long episodes as a limited series with no plans for a second season. And so, it won't monopolise your precious time at all.
