1. The Lord Of The Rings
One of the biggest movie franchises of all time was unlikely to slip under the radar.
"The Return of the Fellowship of the Ring to the Two Towers" is a fantastic send up of the epic fantasy. It has all the usual quotes, scene recreations and mimicry any viewer could possibly want, but the plot and pacing helps it work well as an episode in its own right.
The boys are obsessed with The Lord of the Rings, as was the style at the time, and Stan's dad Randy asks the boys to deliver a copy of the tape for Butters to watch. Unfortunately, there's been a mix up and Butters ends up watching one of the most infamous hardcore porno films ever made. Naturally, he becomes obsessed with it and becomes Gollum: "My precious".
The boys grow concerned, as anyone who looks at the tape behaves oddly, and decide it must be returned from whence it came: The Two Towers video store. In the end, everyone is trying to lay claim to the dirty movie, just like a certain ring of power.
It's all brilliantly intercut with scenes of folks describing the extreme filth they've witnessed, which parallels wonderfully with the serious fantasy tone and story.
