An Osiran war-lord with the intention to destroy all life in the universe, Sutekh was one of the Doctor's most formidable foes. Only featured in 1975's fan-favourite Pyramids of Mars, Sutekh left a lasting impression on viewers that has awarded him a cult status.

Unmistakeable in design and impressive in voice, with even actor Gabriel Woolf returning to voice The Beast in 2006's The Impossible Planet/The Satan Pit, Sutekh is one of the most memorable villains of Classic Who.

Reigning from the planet Phaester Osiris, this demonic, jackal-headed superbeing was also known as 'The Typhonian Beast' and 'Satan'. Originally arriving in Ancient Egypt and being worshipped as a God, Sutekh was followed to Earth and defeated in a mighty battle with his own people.

Entombed beneath a Pyramid, Sutekh was uncovered by Professor Marcus Scarman in 1911. Paralysed by a forcefield controlled from a pyramid constructed on Mars, Sutekh was unable to flee his tomb. Instead, he murdered Scarman and reanimated his corpse to do his bidding.

The Fourth Doctor and Sarah Jane Smith arrived on Earth to see Scarman and robotic mummies constructing an Osiran War Missile to fire at Mars. This would destroy the pyramid and free their master.

Sabotaging the missile, the Fourth Doctor was suddenly overcome by Sutekh's psychic powers and was forced to take Scarman to the pyramid on Mars. Unable to stop the robot mummies or fight back against Scarman, Sutekh was freed.

Thinking the Doctor to be of no consequence, Sutekh released him. This proved to be a fatal mistake for Sutekh, as the Doctor instead trapped the Osiran in a time corridor and sent him into the far future.

Some believe that this would have defeated Sutekh forever, but could the villain really just be waiting in the future to wreak vengeance on the Doctor?

Time will tell.
