10 Best Post-Apocalyptic TV Shows Of All Time
4. Jericho
Jericho is set in the fictional city of Jericho, Kansas, and takes place in the immediate aftermath of a major nuclear attack, which was carried out on 23 major American cities. The attacks destroyed the United States Government and reduced most populations into disparate communities struggling to survive on their own.
The series premiered in September 2006, but it only managed to stay on the air for 29 episodes, concluding its second season in March 2008. Unfortunately, low ratings for the first season earned the series a cancelation before the second season had a chance to air, but a fan campaign succeeded in getting an additional seven episodes, which helped tie up some storylines.
The series may have ended prematurely, but it was filled with talented actors who helped create an immersive narrative in Jericho. The series should have continued for two more seasons had it not been canceled, but fortunately, there is more to Jericho than what aired on CBS.
The story was continued in comic book form via IDW Publishing. The comics were released as season 3 in 2009 and season 4 in 2012, so if you watch the first two seasons and read the comics, the story comes to an appropriate conclusion, making Jericho something of a mixed-media series.
