The pressure was all on Damon Lindelof as he was set to launch a sequel to one the most iconic comic books of all time. In many ways, trying to deliver a worthy follow up to Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons’ masterpiece was a near impossible to win situation. Lo and behold, the Watchmen managed to do just that.
Set over three decades after the ending to the comics, this dystopian world starts to look a lot like our own as White Supremacist groups run wild and not even the police are save from their violence. Each episode introduces new, more horrific elements into the show while the broader narrative continues to paint a grim and realistic picture of our reality if were superheroes were to exists in it.
A timely update of the legendary source material, it was dark, gritty superhero action at its very best.
