10 Best Sketch Comedy Series Of All Time

6. In Living Color

It doesn't get more 90s than In Living Color.

The brainchild of Keenan Ivory Wayans, In Living Color debuted on Fox in 1990 and ran until 1995. Renowned for its parodies, the series was also extremely well known for its take on modern African American culture at the time. It actually managed to win the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Music, Variety or Comedy series its first season on the air.

In addition to Keenan Ivory Wayans, several other members of his family, including Damon Wayans, were regulars on the show. In Living Color also launched several huge careers, including Jim Carrey, Jamie Foxx and David Alan Grier. They also had a dance troupe called The Fly Girls who were choreographed by Rosie Perez and featured a then unknown Jennifer Lopez.

The series ended a lot sooner than it should have. Flagging ratings in the later seasons combined with battles over creative control between Wayans and the network led to In Living Color ending in 1995. But the comedy holds up as does its status as an early 1990s time capsule.
