10 Best Stand-Up Comedy Specials Of The Last Decade On Netflix
4. Bill Burr: Paper Tiger
It was incredibly difficult to pick only one of Bill Burr's four specials from the past eight years- that is an incredible work rate. Ultimately, his final special of the decade, Paper Tiger, is a cut above the rest of his work. In this stand-up special, his sixth recorded one, Burr throws sensitivity out the window and rants about everything, including Michelle Obama's book tour, political correctness and cultural appropriation.
After his 2017 Netflix special Walk Your Way Out seemed to receive mixed reviews from fans, Burr's follow up special is an emphatic success, filled with laughter from start to finish. Performing at Royal Albert Hall, in London, England, Burr delivers a 60 minute airing of grievances that would make Frank Costanza proud. Burr pulls no punches as he vents about societal trends he disagrees with, cultural appropriation discussions with his wife, and the inevitable rise of robots.
Burr is consistently one of the best at presenting ideas that conflict with a culturally appropriate ideology, but arguing them so soundly, it's difficult to disagree with him. While other specials have certainly been edgier, Burr still does address topics he opposes, such as American political correctness, Michelle Obama's book tour, and male feminism.
Bill Burr is a superb at sharing his complaints and grievances, and Paper Tiger is further evidence that Burr is one of comedy's best social critics since George Carlin.
