10 Best Star Trek Fight Scenes

3. The Siege Of AR-558

Star Trek AR558
CBS

This is certainly the saddest entry on this list. The Siege Of AR-558 ranks among the bleakest episodes in Star Trek's run, offering a true 'horrors of war' story. The lonely base in Dominion territory needs to be defended at all costs, even if those costs prove to be a high body count.

The fight is shown through the eyes of the regular crew, of course, but also through the eyes of non-fighters, like Quark and Ezri. The loss of innocence, depicted in the loss of Nog's leg, helps to strip away any punching the air here. The siege is brutal, it's messy, and it's not something to be celebrated.

Guest stars, like Raymond Cruz and Bill Mummy, are introduced before being killed, while none of the survivors are truly spared injury either. Behind the scenes, the decision to remove Worf from the scene was clever, for if there was any character who would undoubtedly do well in that situation, it was him.

Instead, Sisko gets to watch as dozens of young officers are slaughtered, then replaced, ready to face the Jem'hadar next. It's a grim episode, though necessary in the show's attempt to wipe any sheen of glory.
