10 Best TV Shows That Only Got One Season

8. Awake

Freaks And Geeks
NBC

Awake is probably the least-known entry in this article, which is a shame because it probably has the best premise. After Michael Britten gets involved in a car crash with his wife and son, his consciousness splits between two realities. Every time he wakes up, he switches reality; one where his wife died and one where his son died.

In both dimensions, Britten sees a psychiatrist to try and piece together what is happening to him. Is one of the realities just a dream? Are both of Britten's loved ones actually alive? Are they both dead? Are the realities fake and he concocted them as a coping mechanism?

By the time the first season wrapped, there was still a lot of unanswered questions. Considering the last episode aired eight years ago, that's how those questions remained; unanswered. The spectacular premise and a stunning cast weren't enough to pull in the ratings, causing the studio to abruptly end the show. With no word of the series ever receiving a revival, fans have no choice but to speculate on what was really happening to Britten.
