10 Best X-Men: The Animated Series Episodes

Season three was pretty awesome, giving us both the Phoenix Saga and the Dark Phoenix Saga, as well as a few other great episodes focused on individual X-Men like Nightcrawler, Iceman, and Wolverine. How do you follow such a season?

By killing Professor X in the first episode.

In this episode, assassins Trevor Fitzroy and Bantam time-travel back to 1959 to kill Xavier, creating an alternate timeline. Bishop once again enters the fray to stop them. When Fitzroy succeeds, Bishop takes Wolverine and Storm into the future, only to go back in time and stop Xavier's death.

The death of Charles Xavier was a heck of a way to begin a new season. Granted, the time travel shenanigans are starting to get a little hard to follow for younger children, but thankfully, this episode doesn't impact the overall series. Still it was refreshing to see a “what if” type of episode.
