Season Four may have started with a bang, but it was no where near as shocking as Season Two's opener. If killing Morph in the series introduction was surprising, bringing him back as a brainwashed pawn of Mister Sinister’s was even more jaw-dropping.

Morph developed a split personality that wants revenge on his former team for leaving him to die. The former X-Man impersonates various members of the group, luring an unsuspecting Jubilee, Storm, Gambit, and Professor X into traps. As the episode ends, we see that Mister Sinister is manipulating Morph from behind the scenes.

This episode really strengthens the storytelling found throughout the series. Again, the concept that actions have consequences is in full focus. Introducing Mister Sinister, and his capture of Scott Summers and Jean Grey in the followup episode, really helps lay the groundwork for what will be nine emotional episodes focused on the Phoenix.
