10 Breakout TV Characters Who Went From Bit Parts To Series Regulars

4. Lady Lyanna Mormont (Game Of Thrones)

The Walking Dead Daryl
HBO

Bella Ramsey blew up the Internet with her first appearance on Game of Thrones. Fans couldn’t get enough of the bold, mature, and frankly badass leader of Bear Island. When visited by Lady Sansa of House Stark, Mormont made it quite clear that platitudes were a waste of her time. Because of her House’s allegiance to the King in the North named Stark, Lady Lyanna pledged her soldiers—all 68 of them—to join the throngs of fighters.

Well, 69 fighters if you include Lady Lyanna, who put her Mormont where her mouth was and fought alongside her men. After winning the Battle of the Bastards, the pint-sized Stark-supporter wasted no time in calling out the middle-aged men who refused to join the cause. Like I said. Total badass.

Originally, Lady Lyanna Mormont of Bear Island was meant to appear in just one scene. In an interview with EW, Showrunner David Benioff shared, " In many cases, they’re going so far beyond what was expected for them. Some, like Lyanna Mormont [Bella Ramsey], were just supposed to be in one scene. Bella is such an incredible actress that we kept bringing her back because we wanted more Bella.”

She became a beloved part of the show, and might just have the best end scene of any character in Season 8.
