10 Celebrity Guests Who Should've Stayed In South Park
4. Robert Smith
Episode(s) appeared in: Mecha-Streisand (Season 1 Episode 12)
In one of the show's early successes with celebrity cameos, Mecha-Streisand, a giant robotic dinosaur incarnation of singer Barbara Streisand, threatened to destroy the little mountain town. When both film critic/historian Leonard Maltin, in giant robot form, and distinguished actor Sidney Poitier, transformed into a giant turtle, failed to take down Mecha-Streisand, all hope appeared lost.
Until the arrival of The Cure frontman Robert Smith, metamorphosed into a giant moth. He defeated Mecha-Streisand with a punch to her weak spot, her nose. The show heaped praise on Smith. Kyle declared “Disintegration is the best album ever”, Cartman acknowledged that “Robert Smith kicks ass”, and Jesus Christ gave him the ultimate accolade of “Our Saviour”
Robert Smith is in the exclusive club of celebrities depicted positively in South Park. He is idolised in the mountain town. Smith deserves to live in a place where even ten-year-olds appreciate The Cure. Likewise, The Goth Kids deserve to meet the king of gothic rock and be gifted with a genuine moment of happiness. Not that it would require any extra facial animations. Also, we don’t have enough characters in western animation that can turn into giant monsters.
