Sandra Palmer bolted into the 24 Universe an accomplished, powerful woman intent on making the world a safer place. Sister to the President - Wayne Palmer - she was unrelenting in her beliefs that things should be done the correct way, and that malpractice has no place. This is put to the test as her friend and co-worker, Walid, is tasked with infiltrating a potential terrorist group in a state penitentiary.

Miss Palmer establishes herself immediately, displaying an undying loyalty to Walid as she vows to fight for his freedoms after he is wrongfully committed. She rapidly enables the audience to witness a strong, female protagonist during a time where these were scarce. 24 broke ground in a plethora of areas - first female television president, first televised nuclear detonation, to name just 2 - and Sandra Palmer was the latest embodiment of that.

She is steadfast by her brother's side as he nurses back to health and it is a wonder she appeared in so few episodes (10) during season 6. Her run was relatively minor, yet her impact was felt in mass. Taking a moment to truly acknowledge her character and what she stood for may just change your thinking here. If not for her ability to make bold choices, show genuine leadership and above all else, show conviction in her belief of right wrong, the outcome of the show would have been strikingly different.
