Oh Invader Zim, you were too beautiful for this world...well, OK, not beautiful exactly. More like 'weird and horrific and possibly disturbing to young audiences'. The tale of a young alien sent to earth with only his trusty robot dog sounds positively adorable but this cartoon took that premise and went to the darkest possible places with it. Fans of the show revelled in its gruesomeness; where else could you watch an extraterrestrial harvesting the organs of his classmates in order to pass as human? The show ended in 2002 after only 2 seasons amid many, many parental complaints. As is so often the case with quickly cancelled shows, it achieved cult status and calls for a return have never really died down. A reboot could be easily done without losing the maniacal brilliance of Zim. He never looked like a school student to begin with so there's no reason for him not to still be there. Come on Nickelodeon, give this little oddball show one last shot. Which classic cartoon would you love to see brought back? Let us know in the comments.
