10 Classic Doctor Who Enemies Who Need To Return

2. Omega

Now here's a figure who not only plays an important part in Time Lord history, but who has a habit of popping up for special anniversaries. Omega made his first appearance in the 1972-73 story, The Three Doctors - the first story of the show's tenth season. Here he was established as one of the founders of Time Lord society, years before Rassilon was ever mentioned on-screen.

Omega was a stellar engineer who was responsible for giving the Gallifreyans the power of time travel, allowing them to be reborn as the Time Lords. He did this by using a stellar manipulator - dubbed the 'Hand of Omega' - to detonate a nearby star into a black hole, which became the power source for Gallifreyan time travel. However, Omega seemingly died during this act, leaving him to become a revered figure of Time Lord history.

However, it turned out that Omega survived, but was left stranded in an anti-matter universe, where he went insane after centuries of isolation. Omega's only other on-screen appearance was in the first story of Season 20, 1983's Arc of Infinity. Both stories saw the crazed founder seeking revenge on the Time Lords.

One of the most important figures in Time Lord history, it's kind of surprising he hasn't even been mentioned in New Who (although he may have been glimpsed in 2020's The Timeless Children). He does have a habit of showing up around anniversaries though, so why not bring him back for the 60th?
