The episode Turban Cowboy featured two completely unrelated sequences. One was of Peter (improbably) winning the Boston Marathon, and one of Peter accidentally setting off a bomb with his cell phone. When the episode aired, nothing was said of those two moments and it was business as usual. Months after the episode aired, the Boston Marathon bombings occurred and controversy erupted. People didn't take the gag of Peter setting off car bombs too well and conspiracy theorists soon began to think that the show somehow managed to predict the bombings well in advance. It also didn't help that some people uploaded videos online which featured the aforementioned sequences from the episode but edited in such a way that it seemed incredibly similar to the real-life bombing. This crazy 'prediction' actually caused a bit of a furore and Turban Cowboy was eventually pulled from the airwaves. Controversy aside, this theory may have just been a case of making mountains out of molehills as creator Seth MacFarlane dismissed the theory as nothing more than a hoax before describing the edited clips as 'abhorrent'.
My life story is nothing special. I haven't cured ebola, I'm nowhere near stopping terrorism, and I'm still working on that climate change problem.
Instead, all I've done so far is put a few hundred words together in an attempt to make people laugh.
You can follow me at @Fry_ying_pan but don't be offended if I don't tweet back. It's usually because I've spent too long trying to think up a witty response that the reply window has closed.
