4. Upgrading Starbase 80

Star Trek: Lower Decks' fifth season finally depicted the infamous, and infamously run down, Starbase 80 on screen. When the Cerritos docks at the ramshackle station, they discover a mish-mash of old technology, most of which dates from the 2260s.

Strange New Worlds is already no stranger to Lower Decks, with Those Old Scientists serving as a wonderful and zany tribute to both shows. The latter established that this station was in service at the same time that Pike, Una, and Spock were flying through the quadrant on the Enterprise. With so many examples of humour in the third season of the show, this feels like a fun, timely joke to include.

The Enterprise could be the very ship that delivers the upgrades for the station, those final ones before the California-class ship docks more than a century later. While hoping for a return of the Lower Decks' cast and crew might be a little too much, having this spiritual crossover and sequel would make for a fantastic gag for old and new fans.

We may not meet Commander Kassia Nox (as she won't be born for decades to come), but seeing her stomping grounds, perhaps in slightly more pristine condition, would tie a nice ribbon between both shows, connecting them once again.
