There's just something a little bit off about the relationship between Ross and Monica. Their bond is almost too close to be entirely comfortable. Neither of them were exactly social butterflies when they were younger, and they didn't have a ton of friends (with Rachel as a notable exception), so it makes sense that they would be each other's closest friends. You kind of get the vibe that they were the type of siblings who would go to prom together, and not even think that it was weird. It's one thing to be close to your brother, it's quite another to ask him which dress will make you look hotter so that you can get laid. What kind of brother is like, "Oh, definitely the red one. You look hot in the red dress. I would totally bone you."? OK, so those aren't the exact lines, but that's what the implication is. Also, there was that whole situation where Ross's first kiss with Rachel was actually with Monica. Oops. It's super annoying when that happens.
