10 Cult TV Shows Taken Too Soon

7. The Nutt House

Mel Brooks is rightly lauded for creating some of the most iconic comedic moments ever to grace the cinematic landscape, so hopes were high for this rare foray onto the small screen.

Set in a once glamorous, now faded hotel and featuring Mel’s regular cast players in Cloris Leachman and Harvey Korman, the show had a Police Squad feel, throwing verbal gag after gag at the audience, background jokes being as important and rewarding a second viewing.

Viewers and the network unfortunately disagreed and after only six shows, the Nutt House was pulled from the airwaves. One quirk is that here in the UK, all 11 episodes were broadcast, though not set to a regular schedule making it tough to find viewers willing to stick with the madcap show. It was certainly worth tracking down though for the calibre of cast and comedy.
