10 DC Heroes Who Need Their Own Animated Series

Animated Series Batgirl
DC Comics

Batman: The Animated Series is a stone-cold classic, impossible to recreate, and in fact should not be recreated, because that would take away from its perfection. But that doesn't mean it has to be the only DC animated show to bear the "The Animated Series" moniker and set in Gotham, right? So if DC wants to truly honor the legacy of this great show, then they need to make Batgirl: The Animated Series.

The bat family is one of the most famous families in comics, filled with the sort of characters that could carry (and have carried) their own comic line by themselves. So whether you want this Batgirl to be the classic Barbara Gordon, snarky wildcard Stephanie Brown, or silent former assassin Cassandra Cain under the mask, there are plenty of stories to tell with Batgirl in the starring role.

Done right, it would be an excellent callback to the classic animated series, while still managing to be its own thing. Because although they inhabit the same city, much like Dick Grayson, Batgirl is not the same character as Bruce, and so does not approach crimes and situations the same way. It would be a welcome look at the classic DC city, through a different cowl.
