For the first in our "Whoops, we nearly murdered the lead of our TV show" series, we turn the clock back to 1967, and the Second Doctor Patrick Troughton.

In his first season as the Doctor, Troughton and his companions travelled to the Moon in the year 2070, and discovered that it was being used as a platform for the Cybermen to launch an attack on the Earth.

Wait until they find out it's actually an egg - that'll shock 'em.

In classic Doctor Who fashion, this episode features a gizmo that is used to control the planet's weather. It's called the Gravitron, and it almost smooshed Troughton to death.

During camera rehearsals for episode one, the Gravitron prop fell to the ground right where Troughton had been standing a few seconds earlier. He came within inches of a very nasty accident, plus the embarrassment of his headstone having to read "Crushed by a Gravitron."

Fortunately though, he didn't suffer any injuries, and the prop was rebuilt before filming commenced.
