This whopping four-hour story, sees the Doctor and his companion Raine join forces with UNIT, and their scientific advisor Dr. Elizabeth Klein, to face a universe which is on the brink of dimensional crisis. But the Doctor has someone else to help him: his future self.

This story saw the debut of Alex MacQueen as the Other Doctor. However, of course, if you're paying attention, you'll realise MacQueen currently plays another character at Big Finish: the Master. UNIT: Dominion sees the Master pretending to be a future incarnation of the Doctor in order to achieve his scheme and a lot of work is put into this audio to make this a shock reveal.

Since 2014, MacQueen has made several reappearances as the Master, and so the impact of this reveal is slightly lessened with subsequence appearances, but back in 2012 this was huge. In marketing and cast lists, MacQueen is said to be playing the 'Other' Doctor, and keeps up this guise for a good chunk of the story. Additionally to this, as shown by the thumbnail, this was a rare (pre-2015) case where Big Finish used aspects from the revived series, with the Eleventh Doctor's TARDIS exterior used on a cover to depict a future incarnation.

This was an example of how with the right care and attention, reveals and payoffs can be so rewarding.
