10 Doctor Who Big Finish Moments That Will SHOCK You
4. A Death In The Family

Another epic outing in the Doctor Who Monthly Range for our fourth entry. A Death in the Family kicks off straight after the previous Seventh Doctor story in this range, where companion Hex left the TARDIS and the Doctor is told about a Time Lord casket in the vault of the recently defeated Forge.
When the Doctor and Ace track down this casket and open it up, they find the first shocker of this story, the unconscious body of an older version of the Doctor. This older version then gives his younger self a warning, about the return of Nobody No-One, a horrific being from another universe. Upon No-One's return, the earlier Seventh Doctor is forced to sacrifice himself to stop him.
This leads the older version of the Doctor to concoct a plan with Ace and Hex to use a device that would both resurrect the earlier Doctor as well as defeat No-One. The plan succeeds and the Seventh Doctor is revived and No-One is defeated and trapped in the Hand of All.
In order to make sure No-One never returns, the Hand of All must be placed in a mind to sustain it, which was originally the older Seventh Doctor in the casket. Therefore, ever the schemer, the restored Seventh Doctor places the Hand in former companion Evelyn's mind, the day before she suffers a fatal heart attack. This of course is then the death of the Sixth Doctor's first Big Finish companion, who like most characters in the audio adventures is much loved.
Whilst a very complex plot, a Death in the Family delivers a fair few shockers which the audience definitely did not see coming.
