10 Doctor Who Characters Who Nearly Got Their Own Spin Off

1. The Paternoster Gang

Madame Vastra, Jenny Flint and Commander Strax have firmly established themselves as three of the Doctor's most faithful allies and they're always on hand to aid him when their timelines collide. But just what are they doing the rest of the time? Victorian England still needs defending, of course, and surely it's only a matter of time until the BBC gives the Paternoster Gang a highly deserved show of their very own. And just think of the fun they would have! Strax alone is enough to warrant a spin off series as a formidable force who would happily blow your brains out in the name of the Sontar empire. Then there's Madame Vastra, the Siluarian who certainly knows how to get tongues wagging with her wife, Jenny, who serves as her part time lover and part time maid in equal measure. Because why the hell not? In fact, Steven Moffat has recently revealed that the BBC actually are keen to make this happen, owing to their success in A Good Man Goes to War and their subsequent multiple appearances, but he's holding off for the time being because he doesn't want to give fans too much of a good thing. Perhaps it's a case of 'when' instead of 'if' for this one, then. As always, only time will tell... What did you think of this list? Do you wish any of these spin offs had seen the light of day?
