The return of Russel T Davies and David Tennant is a huge twist for modern Doctor Who. The duo worked extremely well together from Series 2 to Series 4, and so the prospect of new content from them has sent fans into a frenzy.

With the announcements of both Tennant’s return and Ncuti Gatwa’s casting, the biggest question on everyone’s lips in the build-up to Jodie Whittaker’s departure was "Who will she regenerate into?!"

It was fairly obvious that the next incarnation would be one of those aforementioned actors, but the fact that it was Tennant left us with so much more confusion and so many more questions than if it had been Ncuti. A new face is to be expected, but an old face revisited is something much different.
