2. Karen Gillan
Remember that Soothsayer from the Series 4 episode The Fires of Pompeii? You know, the one who looked like Karen Gillan? That's because it
was Karen Gillan, folks - the actress left her fleeting mark on the Doctor Who universe as a member of the Sibylline Sisterhood before returning with an almighty vengeance as the Eleventh Doctor's companion Amy Pond in 2010. Coincidentally, The Fires of Pompeii also featured a guest appearance from Peter Capaldi (he's a-comin' on this list, don't you worry!) so it's a great episode in general to revisit as a reminder of what the stars of our show were like before they became the household names they are today, as it were. Karen's original stint in the series featured her character foreseeing the future but not even she could've predicted how prestigious the star's association with Doctor Who would become. During her turbulent tenure as 'the girl who waited' Amy Pond, Karen was given the opportunity to push her performance skills to the limit - and then some - when she initially met the titular Time Lord as a child (the younger Amy was actually played by Karen's real life cousin Caitlin Blackwood), finally stepped aboard the TARDIS over a decade later and dealt with the multiple deaths of her long suffering fiancé Rory Williams who eventually came back as an Auton robot and shot
her - and that was all in her first series! A Doctor Who guest star being brought back as a companion is an impressive feat for any actor but, as Colin Baker has already proven, being reinstated as the show's titular Time Lord is the top trump card to end them all, and you've already guess
who's next...
