10 Exact Moments The Simpsons Stopped Trying
3. The Simpsons Guy
In 2015, just one year after The Simpsons' crossover with Futurama, the family from Springfield joined forces with the Griffins of Quahog for The Simpsons Guy. Just like Simpsorama, this was an opportunity for a wonderful story that fans had been hoping for for years.
However, just like the last big crossover to feature the Simpsons, the Family Guy episode to feature the guests from Springfield relied entirely on the coming together of the two families drawing viewers in, without actually worrying about the quality of what they were tuning in for.
After becoming fast friends, Homer and Peter ultimately fall out over their differing tastes in beer, and even end up in court fighting over Duff or Pawtucket Patriot. Unsurprisingly, the episode falls into the no longer funny Family Guy chicken fight trope, with Homer replacing Peter's usual enemy.
There was no good story to be enjoyed, and nothing particularly funny or memorable about the episode for the right reasons. Instead, The Simpsons collaborated with Family Guy in what seemed like a desperate attempt to stay relevant, feeding off the Griffins' popularity.
