10 Excellent Cartoon Reboots That Surprised Fans
4. She-Ra And The Princesses Of Power (2018)
The newest of the reboots on this list, the recently released She-Ra and the Princesses of Power brings an excellent, updated version of the princess for a new generation, with great writing, fantastic world-building, and lovable characters. Its colourful and varied character designs improve vastly on the original, and an animation style somewhat similar to the well-loved Teen Titans series of the early 2000s. Much of the show's design and animation were inspired by magical girl anime, with the excellent fantasy/sci-fi world-building taken from the original series.
Written by Eisner award-winning Noelle Stevenson, She-Ra boasts an incredible amount of nuance, with realistic character motivations and issues, especially from the excellent villains of the show. Despite presenting a typical good vs. evil setup, individual characters all have different concerns and motivations, none of which are simple or black and white.
The voice work does as much to flesh out the characters as the writing and designs do, and the 100% critics rating on Rotten Tomatoes reflects its high quality as a TV show primarily marketed to young girls.
With another season on the way, it carries on the legacy of excellent and high-quality Netflix animated originals.
