As if Buffy could ever have a quiet birthday...
Having felt out of place at Buffy's birthday party, jobless and old amongst an increasingly independent Buffy's young and trendy new college friends, Giles finds it more and more difficult to connect with her, competing against her new mentor and professor, Maggie Walsh. This ultimately leads to some independent investigative work, a meeting with an old frienemy and a few too many drinks.
In chaos-worshipping warlock Ethan Rayne's final appearance on the show, before being taken away for 'rehabilitation' by The Initiative, he returns to wreak havoc on Giles's life one last time - by turning him into a Fyarl demon.
Shocked by his sudden transformation and seeking a remedy before it's too late, Giles blunders his way through town unintentionally causing mild-mannered disruption and destruction to everything in his path, teaming up with Spike for the best English double act this side of Fry and Laurie, and seizing a priceless opportunity to mess with Professor Walsh.
