6. "Shagadelic baby" (The Office Christmas Special)
Now ostracised from his former workplace and colleagues, the rarely-defeated Brent has acclimated to a life of Z-List celebrity appearances spawned from the idea that the previous two seasons made him into something of a notable name in the real world. Gervais and Merchants dalliance with torturously awkward social situations reached its zenith when Brent accepts an offer for a live celebrity blind date show comprised of himself, Howard from the Halifax adverts, and some bloke from Big Brother. Needless to say the trollop they dug out to be the date in question was ropier than a pirate ship, and proceeded to question a catchphrase-fuelled Brent while the rest of us cringed ourselves into various origami shapes. Its a masterclass in encapsulating the depths of Brents character as he latches onto any semblance of acceptance through celebrity, further exemplifying just how far hed fallen from even the already shaky foundations as the marmite boss of Wernham Hogg. As hilarious to many as it is arduous to some, it remains one of the standout moments of the Christmas Special, and with Brents continual quipping of tired Austin Powers quotes cutting off his prospective dates questions, his hunt for a laugh amongst the jeering crowd made you love or hate him even more.
